Assassin's Creed Mirage will provide a history lesson for those willing to learn

Ubisoft have announced that when players pick up Assassin’s Creed Mirage, they will also get a chance to learn more about the games setting with History of Baghdad, a feature that adds historical context to the game's simulation of the past.

The game will let players discover 66 historical sites, with each providing insight into the region and era of the time. The locations are broken down into five categories, Art & Science; Beliefs and Daily Life; Court Life; Economy; and Government.

Each of them are not just random things attributed to the genre, but rather each entry has been crafted in collaboration with historians and expert advisors and is illustrated by images carefully selected amongst the collections of eminent museums and institutions worldwide, including The David Collection, the Institut du monde arabe (IMA), The Khalili Collections, and Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design.

The ‘History of Baghdad’ is our new historical codex feature – information that players can find in the world, telling them about the culture, tradition and daily life of 9th century Baghdad.
“In addition to providing intensive seminars on medieval Islamic Art to the Ubisoft in-house history team, Glaire and her students contributed directly to this feature, reviewing texts written by our in-house historian Raphaël Weyland, and suggesting illustrations from museum collections.
— Stéphane Boudon, Creative Director for Assassin’s Creed Mirage

There is more to learn about how the developers and the various contributors pulled together this information, you can do that here. As for discovering and learning about this in the game, that will be possible when the game lands on Xbox, PlayStation and PC on October 12th.
