Alienware revealed their new X-series if laptops
Alienware teased the reveal of the X-series of laptops a few weeks back, but now the covers have come off, as the x15 and x17 will be available on June 18.
While the X-series might look like the M-series many folks will know, there are some big changes inside that will shatter that belief, especially around heat. Even in our most recent review of the R4 m15 laptop, we called out heat as being a major roadblock on performance boosts going forward and Alienware seem to think they have it covered.
Included in the X-series, and likely others going forward, is Element 31 and exclusive thermal interface material which is concocted from an Encapsulated Gallium-Silicone liquid metal compound. What this means is that instead of traditional thermal paste, this new material will add a 25% boost in thermal resistance, allowing for your laptop to run cooler.
Running cooler is perhaps the most important aspect of the new machines, but they also sport an updated Legend 2.0 design, but the looks are not just for show. They’ve purposefully placed vents on the top and base of X-Series notebooks around the quad fan design to help amplify airflow rate and boost thermal performance. But it doesn't hurt that it looks like a real treat at the same time.
Finally, let's look at the internals, the power inside is a big deal, especially at these prices, but then it is great to know that both the x15 and x17 ranges will come with the new 11th Gen Intel® Core™ H-series mobile processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Laptop GPUs– up to a 3080.
Top that off with the new Cherry MX Keyboard on the x17 and you have some serious gaming power at your fingers.
Both the x15 and x17 options will be available starting June 18 and prices begin at $3,499 for the x15 and $3,699 for the x17.
