A new update for Xbox Series consoles is adding new management tools for your game library

Xbox have announced that a new update for the Series X and Series S consoles has gone live, allowing some more control over the content you have on your console, along with giving Elite 2 controller owners some new lighting options.

The biggest changes to the Xbox platform is the updates to your game library and there are two parts that are just as important as each other. The first is that your library will now have headers, letting you see All Games, or if you have any active subscriptions, games that you have obtained from them, check out the screen below to see what it looks like.

The same filter options still exist, so you can search for games on selected hard drives or such, but now you can just split them out at the highest level first.

The second change is actually around storage, specifically that you can tell your Xbox console where to install the games you download. Currently, all Xbox consoles would install to your internal storage and then you would have to manually move them later on, but now you can stop that.

In the settings for storage devices, select Change installation locations if you have external drives or a storage expansion card attached. You can select a specific drive as an installation location, or “Let Xbox decide” where to install the content for the fastest drive with available space.

The other big update is for those who own an Elite 2 controller, either the existing Black or Halo themed ones, or the new Core Elite - that’s the white one.

In the app for modifying them, you can now change the colour of the Xbox button that lives at the top of your controller, so no more basic white here, instead you can enjoy any colour you can come up with. If you know the hex code of your favourite colour, you can also use that value, to ensure you are getting the right colour.

There are more changes around gaming sharing on PC, voice chat there as well and more, so be sure to hit up the Xbox Wire to read all about it.
