A brief first look at The Finals is here, before the game welcomes some players into its first alpha test

Embark Studios, a new group made up of some former DICE folks, have announced that their first game, The Finals, will host an alpha playtest, starting tomorrow and you can’t be apart of it, as the test is only available to players in the Northern Hemisphere.

But what is The Finals, well it is a free to play combat game show, that you can be apart of, simply by connecting into the digital world it is set in, at least that is the pitch for the game.

In actuality, players choose their player and jump in to shoot and attempt to make the biggest spectacle that you can, as the bigger it is, the more chance the fans will go nuts for you.

The world is fully destructible, which given the DICE pedigree is no surprise, but it isn’t just about blowing walls up, because you can also make bridges and more, if your character has the right gear. Just remember, that while you are trying to build something up, someone can still bring a building down on you.

There is no word beyond this weekends alpha test, on when the next one might, if local gamers will be able to take part, or when the game might be released in full, but it is nice to see the studio progressing with their debut title. If you want to wishlist the game, or register your interest in the alpha test, you can do that here.
