Sega Ages brings the past to the present on Switch
Sega have announced that part of their history is getting a revival on Nintendo Switch, with Sega Ages, a label that brings the past to the present.
Originally, Sega Ages was a compilation of games released back in 1996 as EGA Ages Vol. 1 Shukudai ga Tant-R, a compilation of enhanced arcade ports of Puzzle & Action: Tant-R and Quiz Shukudai wo Wasuremashita. Over the years, more titles were added to more collections, but the series has been quiet for over a decade now.
The first five Sega Ages titles have been announced, including such notable games as the Sega Master System versions of Phantasy Star and Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Sega Genesis versions of Thunder Force IV and Sonic the Hedgehog, as well as a port of the original arcade version of Gain Ground. This collection will mark the first time that several Sega titles have had official launches in the West. Stay tuned for the first batch of Sega Ages releases, coming Winter 2018.
In addition, it was announced that Japanese studio M2 will be handling the work of bring these classics back, fans may have noticed the name, as the studio worked on the Sega 3D Classics series on Nintendo 3DS.
There was talk as well that games from the Dreamcast and other Sega platforms may join, but who knows at this point.
