StarCraft Remastered In Announce

Over the weekend, Blizzard announced that the original StarCraft is coming back with a completely new look in StarCraft Remastered. The game will still play the same as the original, but now supports widescreen, high fidelity models and support for 4K gaming.

“StarCraft is a pure distillation of Blizzard’s DNA—its story, its balance, and all the little details reflect our long-running commitment to epic entertainment, and it’s been a staple in competitive gaming and esports for almost 20 years,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “With StarCraft: Remastered, we’re modernising the original game’s visuals, audio, and online support to ensure that players can enjoy StarCraft for another 20 years and beyond.”
Before more details are given, here are some comparion screens, the top is the original game released in 1998 and the second is the current build of the remastered version.

Blizzard have announced that while the game will look better, with completely revamped visuals, both in supported screen resolution and character models, the games illustrations are also getting an overhaul, helping to tell the games story again.

All this is taking place in both the main game and Brood War, the games expansion, plus with advanced matchmaking; full connectivity to Blizzard’s gaming network for social features and updates; cloud saving for campaign progress, custom maps, replays, and keybinds; support for eight new languages in addition to the original five; and there is still more to be announced.

The game is being built for Windows PC and Mac and is aiming for a release sometime this Winter, stay tuned for more details as they are announced.
