Hexxy Snake – 60 Second Review

If you are old enough to remember the old Nokia phones, then there is a fair chance you remember Snake, it was the game that everyone played and every new phone to market came with its own version. Overtime the game of Snake had not changed a lot and as phones got more powerful, the simple Snake game was left to yesteryear.

But that has changed now with Hexxy Snake, a new take on the classic Snake game, but with quite an interesting twist. As you might guess from the name, the snake here is now a hexagonal shape, which means it moves on angles more than anything, so no longer are you turning 90 degrees at a time, which means you need to plan your moves ahead a little more. But the game space has also received an update, you are no longer just navigating around your own body, but obstacles that take various shapes and designs.

Getting around is a simple as tapping a side of your device, tap the right side and snake turns right and the left to turn left, it would have been nicer if there was a tutorial to explain it though. The simple control scheme works really well, but offers up a challenge when you increase the difficulty level. Perhaps the only really divisive area that the game has is the music, while each of the tracks is really nice, due to the nature of the style it may not be to everyone’s taste.

If you are looking for something different and fun to play on your iPad or iPhone then you should give Hexxy Snake a go, it brings back some of the charm from the old school phones but with enough updates so it fits nicely within modern games.
