Let your Imagination Run Wild as Minecraft Arrives on PlayStation 3
SYDNEY, 17th April, 2014 - Sony Computer Entertainment Australia (SCE Aust.) today confirmed the arrival of global phenomenon Minecraft: PlayStation®3 Edition. It will be available in disc form from May 14th, 2014, across PAL regions (including Australia). The wildly popular title has been available to download from PSN since the end of last year and has to date been downloaded by more than 1.5 million users, making it one of the most successful releases on the service.
Created by independent Swedish developer studio Mojang, Minecraft was officially released in 2011 with an overwhelming reception from the gaming community. To date, more than 14 million people have bought the game and crafted everything from boats to entire cities. Due to the versatility and customisation the title offers, fans span from the hard-core gaming community to a younger school audience.
Build, craft and explore a world with the freedom to do whatever you want. Dig down into the unknown depths or build incredible structures, from humble homes to grand cityscapes. Decide to go it alone or bring your friends along for the ride in eight-player online multiplayer and four-player split screen modes. The only limit is your imagination!
The new PS3® Edition will come loaded with all the features you'd expect from the console versions of Minecraft, along with everything that came with the most recent update of the game (update 14), including Emeralds, Ender Chests, potatoes and more.
In addition to the upcoming PS3® disc release, Minecraft will also be available on PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®Vita later this year.
